WHAT ARE CHILD DEDICATIONS?
The Child Dedication Celebration is truly a parent commitment service. It is the celebration of a parent’s promise to offer their child to the Lord and to dedicate themselves to rearing their child for the glory of God.
The goal of the Child Dedication Celebration is to help parents recognize that they are stewards of God’s gift of children, and provide an opportunity for family, friends and church community to come alongside parents as they begin laying a firm foundation of leading their child into a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ.
While parents cannot decide their child’s salvation they have been given the responsibility to lay a foundation through teaching and example that will help their child make that decision at the right time.
Dedication is the parent’s commitment, before God and their church community, to raise their child according to God’s Word and for His glory.
Real Life Ministries dedicates children because we read in Luke 2:22-25 that as a baby, Mary and Joseph dedicated Jesus. We also see in Mark 10:16 that Jesus bestowed blessings on the children. The Dedication ceremony is a time of public commitment and blessings as parents guide their child towards a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
