Week 6

SEPTEMBER 25 - OCTOBER 1

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors

Spiritual warfare can seem difficult to understand, but the Bible makes it very clear that we have an enemy who is trying to steal from us, kill us, and destroy us (John 10:10). As we pray, we take our stand against the enemy and fight from a place of victory through Jesus as we’re empowered by His Holy Spirit. There is power in God’s Word, and every lie the enemy has told us can be replaced with God’s truth.Pray that God, through the power of the Holy Spirit will give you the strength to resist the devil and all the temptations he throws your way.

Prayer:
Father I pray in Jesus name that you empower me through your Holy Spirit to stand my ground against the attacks of the enemy. I pray that all temptations that the enemy tries to use in my life, I will be able to resist and that all attempts to cause me to sin would fall short. Thank you that because of Jesus, I have victory and am no longer a slave to sin. Today I choose to wear the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit. I pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus.

Challenge:
What temptation, trial or spiritual attack are you experiencing right now? Come against it through prayer. Thank God for the victory you already have in Jesus. Share what you are struggling with with a trusted friend who loves Jesus and ask that they join you in prayer.

Supportive scripture:
Ephesians 6:10-18
2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Week 2

August 28 - September 3

God isn’t interested in us practicing religion; instead, He desires a relationship with us. God has adopted us as His children and loves for us to call Him our Father.

As sons and daughters of God Almighty, we are able to come to Him with confidence knowing that He loves us, hears us, and desires to have a real, intimate, and growing relationship with us.

Starting our prayer time acknowledging our relationship with God is powerful for us and pleases Him as well. Proclaim your intimate relationship with God by addressing Him as your Father and thanking Him that you are His child.

God loves when we worship Him, and there is power in His name. As you pray, remember and even use the different names of God to worship Him for who He is and all that He has done in your life. Here are some names of God that you can use as you worship Him...

Jehovah Jireh -Provider (Genesis 22:14)
Jehovah Rapha -Healer (Exodus 15:26)
Jehovah Shammah -There (Ezekiel 48:35)
Adonai -Lord/Master (Exodus 23:17, Matthew 1:20, Luke 2:29)
El Shaddai -God Almighty (Genesis 17:1)

Prayer:
Father, thank you for allowing me to be your child. Thank you for loving me and adopting me into your family. Thank you that you no longer see me as a sinner, but now as your son/daughter.
Father, You are holy and I worship your name. You are my Provider, my Healer, my Master. You are God Almighty and You are always There. Your name is great and I praise you for who you are.

Challenge:
Start your prayer out this week by addressing God as Father instead of Lord, God, Jesus, etc. Along with that pray through the different names of God and meditate on how those names have been true for you in your life. Write those ways down and thank God for all He has done in your life.

Scriptures to read:
Romans 8:15-16
Proverbs 18:10

Week 1

Aug 21 - Aug 27

The Lord's prayer is not a prescriptive way to pray. In other words, we do not need to recite this prayer word for word in order for God to hear us. This prayer does however give us some very key elements to remember as we enter into the presence of our almighty God through prayer.

The Lord's prayer points us back to what Jesus said are the greatest 2 commandments...to love God and to love others (Matthew 22:36-40). Jesus said all the scriptures are summed up in these 2 commandments, so it should not surprise us at all that the way Jesus tells us to pray would run parallel with His commandment to love.

Prayer challenge for the week:
Read through Matthew 6:8-13 and write down all the ways you see the Lord's prayer connecting us to loving God and loving others. Pray and ask God which part of this prayer He is wanting you to grow in.

Sample prayer:
Use the following sample prayer as a template for praying through the Lord's prayer. Pray this word for word or customize it how you see fit.

Father, thank you for allowing me to be your child. Thank you for loving me. You are holy and I worship your name. You are Provider, Healer, Savior, Master and Peace. Today, I ask that your will be done in my life.

Please empower me to do what you are wanting me to do, and live my life prioritizing you above all else. Father, please give me all that I need today. Please give me wisdom and lead me through the power of your Holy Spirit. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and making me clean.

Please help me to forgive others of their sins, and not hold anything against someone. Father, today I ask that you protect me from the temptations of this world. Protect me from lust, anger, pride, envy, greed, and selfishness.

I pray that you would guard my mind and help me to meditate on things that are holy and pleasing to you. Father, you deserve all honor, glory and power, and I pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
